OUR STORY

For the last 24 years, it has been our joy and privilege to service Jewish families of our community through a variety of programs starting with the iconic summer camp lovingly known as  Gan izzy which has seen thousands of children in the community over the years. Hebrew school, Bar and Bat Mitzvah education, and family holiday programming  are but a small sampling of the communal opportunities we’ve had to connect with children and their families in town.

During the long months of Covid, we recognized the value of offering outdoor Mommy and Me classes and toddler classes. The incredible response to these classes inspired us to do more for the youngest members of our community and their parents. The sense of community and desire to connect was palpable. And so, The Little Gan was born! Not only does it nurture the growth of our preschool age children, it will also be a beacon of support for young parents and families. We invite you to come grow with us!

The Little Gan (Gan; translating to “garden” in Hebrew) was born with the intent to nurture the young, bright lights in this community.

Watch The Little Gan gently guide your child towards reaching their fullest potential. An incredible team along with the most creative programming, is the greatest gift we can give these little children.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

The Little Gan Preschool is focused on fostering each child’s physical, intellectual, emotional and social growth, within  a warm and nurturing environment. Through your child’s experience at our school, we hope to cultivate a lifelong love of learning, and build within each child a sense of independence and confidence that they will carry with them well beyond preschool.

At The Little Gan, we believe that children learn by doing, and that  play is the medium through which children explore the world, learn about themselves and others, problem solve, develop resilience, pursue creative ideas, and so much more. Our progressive approach to curriculum is driven by the understanding that children are naturally curious and drawn to discovery. Therefore, we approach learning through a child centered lens, and focus on creating hands-on learning experiences for children.

What sets us apart is our belief that teaching and learning is a shared experience and the best educational environment is one that is made up of a community of people that supports each child as needed. Therefore, we are committed to having various professional experts across domains such as Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Pathology, Child Psychology, and more, be a part of our dynamic team so that together, we can help every child meet their potential.

Our school is an affiliate of Chabad of Westport, which also includes Camp Gan Izzy, and we are part of an organization that is dedicated to spreading the wonders and rewards of Judaism throughout the globe in a nonjudgmental and inclusive manner. Bringing people together, developing a Jewish identity, and forging a community, is essential to our mission, and we are an organization that is committing to supporting you and your family beyond school hours alone. We hope to be your “village” and be your partners in raising your children and offering your family many resources and opportunities to build stronger connections. We hope you will join our community and be a part of this truly special place!
